MARTINBOROUGH

PERSONAL ITEMS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Miss M. Joslin, of Wanganui, has returned home from visiting her sister, Mrs W. Lun don. Miss Barbara Greenwood, of Christchurch, is visiting Miss Kirsty Cameron, of “Moeraki.” WEDDING. ROACH—McLEOD. Widespread interest was shown last evening in, the marriage of Alice Florence, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert McLeod, of “Ruawaka,” to John Haliburton, second son of Mr and Mrs Roach, of Feilding. The ceremony took place in the Presbyterian Church at 5 o’clock. The church had been beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. The Rev. John Mann performed the ceremony, and the wedding music was played by the bride’s cousin, Miss Bunty McLeod. The bride, who entered the church escorted by her father, was attired in a gown of white lace with a full train. The neckline was heart-shaped, finished with white satin loops, the sleeves long, tight-fitting and pointed over the wrist. A long white satin sash fell the length of the train. A tulle veil, lent by Mrs Frank Hockley, cousin of the bride, was caught to the head with a sprig of orange blossom. She carried a beautiful bouquet to tone. The bride’s attendant, a friend, Miss Miriam Beale, was attired in a graceful pink angelskin lace frock made on the same lines as the bride’s. A deep contrasting sash of green and cerise and a bandeau of the same colours were worn. Her bouquet was to tone. Mr Lambert Roach, of Masterton, brother of the groom, was the best man. The reception was held in the Parish Hall where about 150 guests were received by Mr and Mrs Robert McLeod. Mrs McLeod wore a navy ensemble and Mrs Roach, the groom’s mother, was in a black ensemble. They both carried autumn tinted posies. When the bride left later in the evening she was wearing a navy costume and accessories. Mr and Mrs J. Roach’s future home will be at “Ngawaka,” on the Hinakura Road.
