PACIFIC LINERS
HOPES OF EARLY ACTION AGREEMENT BY CANADA TO CO-OPERATE PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION OF TWO SHIPS (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Copyright. . (Recd This Day, 9.45 a.m.) LONDON, June 15. The Australian Associated Press understands that an intimation has been received of Canada’s willingness to join in a scheme for the construction of two liners for the Trans-Pacific service. It is now hoped to convene an early meeting of English, Australian, New Zealand and Canadian Governmental representatives in London. The scheme already has been thoroughly thrashed out, and there should not be much further postponement of the laying down of keels, unless new difficulties are discovered. Canada’s hesitancy in sanctioning the necessary Parliamentary and financial measures has been the main obstruction. New Zealand’s reservations are regarded as raising only minor difficulties.
