SIZE OF WARSHIPS
BRITAIN AND THE UNITED. STATES DISCUSSIONS IN PROGRESS ’JAPAN-NOT YET APPROACHED (Recd This Day, 10.19 a.m.) RUGBY, June 15. Asked in the House of Commons whether the British Government had reached any agreement with the United States Government on the size of battleships, Mr Chamberlain said the escalation discussion was still proceeding and, pending their conclusion, it was not possible to make any statement. The question whether any efforts had been made to secure Japan’s agreement, not to exceed those maximum figures, did not therefore at present arise.
