SIMPLE FACE PACKS

THREE RELIABLE METHODS. To some women the idea of a facepack conjures up a picture of fashionable beauty parlours and expensive treatments, but actually some of the best packs can be applied in the privacy of one’s own bedroom and for the outlay of only a few pence. Here are three which are highly recommended:— Egg Pack. —To prepare this, separate the white from the yolk of a large egg and use only the yolk. Beat it up well; then cleanse the face with cold cream, finally removing all traces of the cream with a little astringent lotion. The cut end of a cucumber or a little eau-de-Cologne will do very well for this purpose. Apply the eggyolk thickly over the face except just below the eyes, and lie down quietly for half an hour while the mask hardens. At the end of that time wash it away with cold water and apply powder if you are in the habit of using it. Meal Mask. —This is prepared by mixing equal quantites of oatmeal and almond meal to a paste with milk and then adding a teaspoonful of lemon juice. Cleanse the face as in the case of the egg-pack. Then spread the meal mask over the face and leave on for fifteen minutes. Boracic Mask. —This is suitable for those who suffer from recurrent attacks of pimples and blemishes on the skin, including blackheads. An ounce of boracic powder should be beaten to a paste with boiling water; leave to cool and their stir in three 'tea spoonfuls of good cold cream. Steam the face over a basin of very hot water; leave to cool and then stir in three teaspoonfuls of good cold cream. Steam the face over a basin of very hot water to get the pores well opened and then spread the prepared paste on the face while still damp. This must be left on for an hour, so it is best carried out at bedtime, when a thin coating of the pack' can be left on the face all night after the surplus has been wiped away on pads of clean cotton-wool.
