HIGH CABLE HOIST

Work is proceeding on the mountain cable hoist at the Aiguille du Midi, in the Chamonix region, which will be the highest in the world. The present cable hoist, which already reaches a height of 8,038 feet, will be continued to a height of 11,810 feet, and will carry skiers up on to the snow fields of the immense Vallee Blanche. Skiers wiii be able to enjoy a run of ten miles, with a difference in level of 8.202 feet.
