SOCCER ACTIVITIES
MATCHES IN MASTERTON A meeting of the Association Football controlling body was held last evening, when a fair number attended. The financial question was again discussed, and it was decidel that members and supporters be asked to appeal to any body interested for support. The Park Oval is probably one of the best grounds used for Association football in New Zealand, and the local players appreciate the Borough Council’s permission for games to be. played there. It was stated that some very good football should be witnessed during the season. Teams which will visit Masterton according to correspondence read at the meeting, include Napier and Manawatu, and possibly Wanganui, besides the various Wellington teams which will be travelling to Masterton practically every Saturday. Arrangements were finalised for the visit of Seatoun next Saturday, and as many members as possible were asked to be at the Park on the morning of the match to get the ground in order. The team for Saturday will be selected from the following:—M. Dixon, J. Grant, H. Campbell, J. Cruickshanks, K. Webb, G. Longworth, L. King, R. Bell, A. Craig, J. Colquhuon, R. Pawson, R. Brewster and G. Young. Players are to be at the Park by 2.30 p.m. and the kick-off will take place at 2.45 p.m. The referee will be Mr J. Ross. This match will be preceded by a boys’ game.
