INQUIRY INTO RECENT DISORDERS APPOINTMENT OF ROYAL COMMISSION SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC FACTORS (Recd This Day, 1.50 p.m.) LONDON, June 14. Mr Malcolm MdCDonald (Secretary for the Colonies), announced in the House of Commons the appointment of a Royal Commission to inquire into social and economic conditions in Barbados, British Guiana, British Honduras, Jamaica and the Windward Islands. He also announced the appointment of a new Governor of Jamaica, Sir Arthur Edward Denham. Dealing with the disturbances in the West Indies, Mr MacDonald expressed the opinion that they were not antiBritish, but due to uncertainly of employment, low wages and bad housing.
