DRUNKEN GIRLS

TO BE SHUT IN TIGER CAGE AND PARADED THROUGH , STREETS Girls who drink too many cocktails in Woburn, Massachusetts, will be locked in an illuminated tiger cage and drawn through the streets so that everyone can hiss them. Shocked by drinking—especially among girls—puritanical William Kane, Woburn’s Mayor and virtual dictator, has ordered this punishment for all “drunks.” irrespective of age or sex. His ordei - has amazed Woburn’s citizens. Some are so angry that attempts will probably be made to rescue intoxicated victims when they are paraded in the cage.

“This tiger cage has been borrowed from a zoo in the district,” Mayor Kane, who is a bachelor, non-smoker and teetotaller, told a reporter.

“At nights it will bq lighted up and driven through the city's chief streets so that all can see the bad people. No drunk men or women will be permitted in prison. All will go into the cage. Woburn's religious leaders are loyally supporting my plan.”
