CARTERTON
DEATH OF MR JOSEPH BOND. (“Times-Age” Special.) The death occurred at Levin on Monday of Mr Joseph Bond, at the age of 72 years. He was the third son of the late Mr John Bond, of Belvedere. Prior to going to Levin he resided in Carterton, and for 34 years was head, yardman at Booth and Co.’s timber yards, and later entered the employ of the late Mr T. J; Rathbone, also in the timber trade. He then took up farming in Carterton. Twelve years ago he left Carterton, taking a farm at Levin, where he resided up to the time of his death. He is survived by a widow and three sons (Percy, of Christchurch, Edward, of Dannevirke, and Richard J., of Levin), and two daughters (Mrs Frank King, of Ohau, and Mrs Thos. Burgess, of Shannon). The funeral took place at Levin today. PERSONAL. Mr N. F. Every, of the Bank of New South Wales staff, has received notice of his transfer to Hokitika. He will take up his new duties on Monday, June 27. ELECTRIC POWER INTERRUPTED. A blown fuse on a transformer caused a short interruption to the electric power supply yesterday morning, but the trouble was soon rectified by the Power Board staff.
