McIVOR BEATS MARSHALL. DISAPPOINTING BOUT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, June 13. In a disappointing professional catch middleweight boxing contest Finlay Mclvor, Palmerston North, obtained a points decision over Clarrie Marshall, Gisborne, at Palmerston North tonight. The bout marked the opening of the Manawatu season, but the crowd expected a' good deal more from the fighters, who seemed disinclined to mix it until the last of 10 three-minute rounds.. ' The decision met with a divided opinion of the spectators, Marshall appearing to carry most of the fighting to his opponent throughout.

OLYMPIC GAMES BOXER.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 13.
Norman Fisher, the well-known Canterbury Olympic Games boxer, plans to turn professional soon. He represented New Zealand at the last Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936 and has won the lightweight and welterweight championships of Canterbury. Application has been made to the New Zealand Olympic and Empire Games Association for release from the amateur bond entered into at the time of the Games and which normally would not expire until September.
