EMPIRE AIR SERVICE

SINGAPORE-AUSTRALIA SECTION INAUGURATION ON JULY 2 (Recd This Day, 11.0 a.m.) CANBERRA, This Day. The Minister of Defence, (Mr H. V. C. Thorby) announced that the Empire air mail flying boat service will be inaugurated on July 2, when a Qantas and Empire Airways flying boat will leave Singapore to arrive in Sydney on July 5. Only mail will be carried until the full service of three days a week begins some time in August. The service is to be operated with Empire flying boats of the same type as those already in service as far as Singapore. <
