GENERAL ELECTION
LABOUR CANDIDATES SELECTED. The national executive of the New Zealand Labour Party has announced that the following (jgndidates, who have received the endorsement of party organisations in the electorates concerned, have been chosen to contest seats at the general election: — Mr R. Coulter, M.P. for Hauraki. Mr T. E. Trask, Egmont. Mr F. E. Frost, New Plymouth. Mr Coulter is the sitting member for Waikato, but because of redistribution of seats more than half his electorate has been transferred to the new Hauraki electorate. Mr Coulter has consented to stand following representation made by electors and branches of the Labour Party in Hauraki. Mr Frost contested the New Plymouth seat in the last election, and in a field of five candidates was beaten by 831 votes. Formerly vicar of Taradale, Hawke’s Bay, Mr Frost is now employed in the broadcasting service at Auckland.
Mr Trask is president of the Eltham branch of the Labour Party, and a well-known farmer in that district.
