A rather painful accident occurred to Ron Hutchings, of Battersea. He was helping his father to ring some young pigs when one bit him on the left thumb, necessitating part of the thumb being taken off. FIRE BRIGADE MEETING. The monthly meeting of tne ureytown Volunteer Fire Brigade was held last evening, Superintendent Gates presiding over a good attendance of members. Invitations were received for reunions at Carterton on June 13 and Martinborough on July 14. The meeting resolved to call for applications for the position of custodian at the Fire Station. It was decided to obtain an estimate for a motor to drive the sireen. Fireman E. Boyd and W. Gray were granted their 2-year bars, making 23 years’ service each. TABLE TENNIS MATCH. In a table tennis match played here last night between Carterton and Greytown the latter won by 22 matches and 76 games to 8 matches and 24 games.
