MINORITIES STATUTE
PROGRESS OF DISCUSSION IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA MORE CLASHES IN BORDER DISTRICTS VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS ASKED FOR DEFENCE By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. PRAGUE, June 11. On the eve of the final instalment of the municipal elections tomorrow. Czech legal experts worked throughout the day and night to devise a new formula by which it is hoped to dovetail most of the Sudeten German demands into the Government’s Minorities Statute. The Government has agreed in principle to accept the Sudeten memorandum as a basis of discussion. A clash between Czechs and Sudeten Germans occurred at Warmdorf, and resulted in 47 Sudetens being arrested. A large crowd staged a demonstration and the release of those arrested was eventually granted. The Government has appealed for a voluntary contribution for defence. A sum amounting to £2,000,000 has already been subscribed.
