HOCKEY TEAMS
GATHERING ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON. Members of the Ruahine women’s hockey team and the Prince of Mandavar’s Indian hockey team were the guests of the Wairarapa Men’s Hockey Association at afternoon tea on Saturday. Mr G. Hayne, president of the Wairarapa Hockey Association said that day had been a red-letter one for the Wairarapa. Moor and all others who * had assisted in making the day the success it had been.
“We might almost call them the Indian conjurors,” said the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan,' who, on behalf of the town extended a welcome to the team. Mr Jordan emphasised the value of exchange of visits between one country and other, and expressed the hope that the day was not far distant when a team from New Zealand would visit India. Mr Jordan thanked the various teams for their fine displays. Mr J. Robertson, M.P., endorsing-Mr Jordan’s remarks, also congratulated the players on their efforts. The manager of the Indian team, Professor Jagat Nath, thanked the association and the town for the hospitality extended to the team.
