Shade minimum, 29.1 on May 12 (26.3 in May, 1937); mean temperature for month, 51.7; absolute grass minimum, 20.0 on May 12 (18.4 in May, 1937); average grass minimum, 31.2 (29.9 in May, 1937); average at 1 foot underground, 52.3 (45.3 in May, 1937). Severest frost (30.4 degrees, being the “international frost point”), 10.4 degrees (12.0 degrees in May, 1937); days of frost, 20; days of gale, 2; days of fog, 6. Total rainfall, 1.21 inches on 13 days (3.74 inches in May, 1937); greatest fall, 62 points on May 4. Total sunshine, 165.8 hours (107.8 hours in May, 1937); daily average, 5.3 hours; sunniest day, May A 3 (9 hours 6 min.). Wind-run, 1299 miles (1933 miles in May, 1937); average, 41.9. FIGURES FOR LONGBUSH. The following is the rainfall at Longbush during May, measured by Mr A. C. Gawith:—-Total fall, 75 points; average for May over last 19 years, 415 points.
