SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES

PRICES AT WELLINGTON HIDES AGAIN CHEAPER Prices of sheep skins showed no change, but hides were again cheaper at the sale held yesterday by the Wellington brokers. • Tallow was unchanged. Sheepskins: Competition was keen and a good clearance was effected at prices generally on a par with last sale’s quotations.

Hides: The market showed a further weakening. Lightweights declined by jd, medium and heavy by IJd to 3d, while calfskins were fully Id to Id lower.

Tallow: The offering comprised mostly broken packages and little Change was recorded.

The range of prices is as follows: — Hides: Ox, 331 b to 441 b, 4 3-8 d; 451 b to 521 b, 4 5-8 d; 531 b to 591 b, 4Jd to 5 7-8 d; 601 b to 691 b, 7 3-8 d; 701 b and over, 6 7-8 d; cow, 331 b to 391 b, 3d to 4Jd; 401 b to 481 b, 3Jd to 4Jd; 491 b and over, 33d to 4 5-8 d; kip, 251 b to 321 b, 3Jd to 5Jd; 171 b to 241b,-' 3 5-8 d to 6 7-8 d; yearling, 111 b to 161 b, 3d to 7Jd; calf, 91b to 101 b, 2Jd to 5 l-8d; 61b to 81b, 2d to 6£d; lib to 51b, 3d to 7(d.

Sheepskins, dry: Halfbred, 63d to B|d; fine crossbred-, 7d to B£d; medium crossbred, 6fd to 8d; coarse crossbred, 5Jd to 8d; half-wools, 3J-d to BJd; quarter-wools, 3d to 6Jd; pelts, 2|d to 4|d. Salted: Half-wools, 2s 6d each; three-quarter-wools, 4s; full-Wdols, 4s sd.
