WORST IN THE HISTORY OF SWEDEN
WHOLE VILLAGES SUBMERGED.
FEARS OF INCALCULABLE DAMAGE.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Copyright. (Recd This Day, Noon.) STOCKHOLM, June 9.
The worst floods in the history of Sweden, caused by the rising of the Ume and Vindel rivers, submerged whole villages in the Uasterbotten district, where troops and farmers are trying to build new dams and river walls. It is feared that the water may reach the timber storage area in which five million logs are kept and sweep them across country, doing incalculable damage.
