MR W. WATSON'S RETIREMENT.

MR A. E. MABIN A CANDIDATE FOR VACANCY.

The annual meeting of the Bank of New Zealand was held today. After the announcement of Mr William Watson’s impending retirement from the board of directors, it was learned that several influential shareholders had approached Mr A. E. Mabin, manager and director of Levin and Co., Ltd., with a view to his becoming a candidate for the vacancy, and that Mr Mabin .had consented to do so. Mr Watson retires on March 31 next.
