Mr J. B. Aimers, Victoria University College, won the Plunket Medal for oratory in the 1938 contest held at Auckland on Wednesday. Lieutenant-Colonel B. S. Finn. D. 5.0.. N.Z. Dental Corps, has been granted an extension of his appointment as Director of Dental Services to January 3. 1939.
The Hon F. Langstone. Minister of Lands, who returned to Wellington from the South Island yesterday, left last evening for Palmerston North. He will proceed to the East Coast today.
His Honour Mr Justice Blair has been appointed a member of the Second Division of the Court of Appeal, in place of His Honour Mr Justice Ostler, who is unable to take his place on the bench because of illness.
The appointment of the Assistant Law Draftsman, Mr H. D. C. Adams, LL.B., to the position of Law Draftsman, was announced last evening. Mr Adams succeeds Mr J. Christie, C.M.G.. LL.M., who will retain the office of Compiler of Statistics. Mr J. S. Reid, LL.B., a member of the staff of the Minister of Finance, has been appointed Assistant Law Draftsman in succession to Mr Adams.
