EXQUISITE RUTH DRAPER.
A rich experience is in store for New Zealand theatregoers when Ruth Draper, the American actress, begins her tour of the Dominion under Wil-liamson-Tait direction at Auckland on June 27. Many who base their standard of entertainment on costly film spectacles, will refuse to believe that one slim woman, with a minimum of make-up, and no change of costume; whose only properties are a shawl or two, a chair, a table, a feather boa, a parasol and a Baedeker, can hold an audience in thrall for two hours and
a half. Yet Ruth Draper can do this. She contributes a rich experience to her listeners; not one picture has been looked at, but a long gallery of portraits. Her voice is beautiful in all its nuances; her hands are flexible and flower-like. By her exquisite art she conveys in all she does, the remarkable quality of genius. Her performances are a continuous joy, a liberal education in the observation of humanity. New Zealand audiences will remember her as an almost incredible legend of the theatre.
