THE ROMANCE OF IRELAND’S UNCROWNED KING.
Clark Gable and Myrna Loy attain new heights of artistry together in “Parnell,” a drama suggested by the career of Charles Stewart Parnell, “Uncrowned King of Ireland,” which opens at the Regent Theatre on Saturday. Although it is primarily a narrative of Ireland, "Parnell'’ is actually international in its scope, for it is the account of a courageous man who surrendered fame and fortune and power for the woman he loved. John Stahl, one of the screen’s most distinguished
directors, followed history with a careful eye and reproduced the colour and the beauty of the people and their times with rare skill and power. Gable, as Parnell, unquestionably plays the most impressive role of his brilliant career and Miss Loy, as Katie O’Shea, reveals her remarkable talent as an emotional actress in contrast to her recent comedy roles. Edna May Oliver, Billie Burke, Alan Marshall, Edmund Gwenn, Donald Crisp, Berton Churchill, Donald Meek and others have prominent roles and in addition there is a large group of native Irish men and women who provide realistic atmosphere.
