MARTINBOROUGH
A SURPRISE PARTY. (“Times-Age” . Special.) Members of the Girl’s Club and the Home and School Association surprised Miss Kyra Herrick last evening at her home where a party was held before. Miss Herrick’s departure for’ Palmerston North. Vocal items were given by Misses Hall and Heather McNally, a tap dance by Misses Davey and Davidson and a sketch by Misses Alpe and McCrae. Community singing and games passed a very enjoyable evening. Mrs Kershaw presented Miss Herrick with a handbag' and posy from the Home and School Association wishing her much success and happiness in her new sphere, and Miss McNally presented her with gloves from the Girls’ Club, whilst Mrs Lawrence expressed that Club’s best wishes for the future. Miss Herrick thanked everyone present for their gifts. Auld Lang Syne brought to a close a very pleasant evening. PERSONAL. Mr H. L. Griffiths, of the firm of Gawith, Biss and Griffiths, will leave tonight from Wellington by the Wanganella for Australia on a health-re-cruiting holiday. He will be away for six weeks.
