FEATHERSTON

TRANSPORT WORKER INJURED. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr Cecil Jury, a transport worker, was injured by a rolling petrol drum while handling a load at Featherston at midday yesterday. The injured man was picked up by two saw-bench men working nearby. The full extent of Mr Jury’s injuries are not yet known. TELEPHONE FACILITIES. A start has been made on an additional telephone circuit between Featherston and Masterton. A gang of five men have commenced at the Featherston end, and will continue until they meet another gang working from Masterton. Given favourable weather, the work should be completed in about a month. EUCHRE TOURNAMENT There was a good attendance at the weekly euchre tournament held by the fire brigade. There were 18 tables. The prize winners were: Ladies, Mrs Baker 1; Mrs W. Fuge 2. Men, Mr Lepenski 1; Mr J. Rae 2. AN UNUSUAL SIGHT. An unusual sight for this time of the year, is a pair of lambs to be seen on the Rototawai Links. They are a week or so old and appear to be doing very well. FIRST BABY AT MANSE / At a meeting of the Ladies Guild, held in the Presbyterian Church Hall yesterday afternoon, it was decided to write a letter of congratulation to Mrs Keenan, in becoming the mother of a daughter. The baby will be the first to occupy the Manse in Featherston, which was erected 30 years ago.
