GREYTOWN

POLITICAL ADDRESS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr Ben Roberts, M.P. for Wairarapa addressed a gathering of about 100 people in the Crown Theatre, Greytown, last night. Mr A. W. Horton (Mayor) occupied the chair. Mr Roberts outlined the work of the Labour Party during its term of office. At the conclusion of his address he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks on the motion of Mr A. Stuart seconded by Mr G. S. Maloney. NATIONAL PARTY FUNCTION. The Oddfellows’ Hall was packed last night for the bridge and euchre tournament of the local branch of the National Party. After supper musical items were contributed by Mesdames T. Gold and T. R. Ingley, and Mr Irwin, of Carterton. , The prize winners were: Bridge, Mrs Kiernan and Mr Athol George. Hidden number, Miss Wyett. Euchre, Mrs H. Tilyard and Mr Evans. Lucky number Mrs Beeson. Mr J. F. Thompson presented the prizes to the winners. The gathering closed with the singing of the National Anthem. LADIES’ GOLF. The following is the draw for the ladies’ challenge cup competition: — Mrs Thompson v Mrs Maddison, Miss O. Nix v Miss E. Gregor, Miss I. Collier v Mrs Jury, Miss B. Gregor v Miss B. Haigh, Mrs R.
