It is understood that a Bill, extending military service in Czechoslovakia from two to three years, will shortly be introduced to Parliament, as the recent temporary calling up of reserves had not filled the army gap. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Berlin correspondent says the reported decision by Czechoslovakia has caused angry comment in German newspapers, which are declaring that the necessarily increased expenditure will enormously strain Czech finances, and increase economic distress in the 'Sudeten areas. They denounce the measure as a further menace to peace. REPORT PREMATURE. EXECUTION OF PROPOSAL, POSTPONED. (Recd This Day, 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, June 8. “The Times” Prague correspondent says reports of the introduction of three years’ military service are premature. The plan is still receiving favourable consideration, but its ( execution has been postponed for political reasons. SUDETEN DEMANDS. ELABORATED IN LETTER TO PREMIER. (Recd This Day, 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, June 8. The Sudeten Deutsch Party announces (the “Times” correspondent at Prague reports) that Herr Kundt has transmitted to Dr Hodza a memorandum of claims elaborating Herr Henlein’s demands. Herr Kuridt, in a covering letter, says that before entering into negotiations, the Sudetaens wish to know definitely whether, as hitherto, their principles apd proposals form the basis for conversations, or for a Nationalities Statute.
