ALLEN—HUME.

At St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Carterton, Jean Haldane, only daughter of Mrs and the late Mr J. R. Hume, Ahiakouka, Greytown, was married to Keith Nelson, son of Mr and Mrs G. E. Allen, “Tipua,” Masterton. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev R. Byers, and Miss V. Irwin presided at the organ. During the signing of the register 1 a solo was sung by Miss L. Harris.

The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr George Steven, wore a charming gown of deep cream satin, made Empire style, the skirt falling in a graceful train. The embroidered veil, which was worn over the face, was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom. The bride’s bouquet was of deep red roses.

The bridesmaids were Miss Florence Steven (chief), Miss Beryl Robinson, and Miss Beryl Allen (sister of the bridegroom). They were all dressed alike in ruby velvet gowns with gold accessories, and wore gold Juliet caps. Their bouquets were of deep cream roses and orchids.

Mr Larry Allen (brother of the bridegroom) was best man, and the groomsmen were Mr Roy Sowman and Mr David Kilgour. Mr John Steven and Mr Ormond Hatton performed the duties of ushers at the church. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a gold horseshoe by her small cousin, Patricia Steven. Amout 100 guests attended the reception, which was held at the State Ballroom. Tlie bride’s mother was wearing a sapphire blue lace ensemble, and the bridegroom’s mother wore a gown of raisin coloured lace.

The younger guests were afterwards entertained at a dance, and Mr and Mrs Keith Allen left later by car for the south, the bride wearing a model suit of brown Bouche, with accessories to tone.

Their future residence will be “Tipua,” Masterton.
