Hirschberg, Pohangina, is staying with Mrs E. R. Barton, Lansdowne. Miss Margaret Ewan, Auckland, is the guest of Miss Lorna Blundell, Martinborough. Miss Jan Williams, Gisborne, is staying with Miss Kirsty Cameron, Martinborough. Miss Barbara Greenwood, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs Baird, Cole Street, Masterton. Mr and Mrs Leslie Reynolds, Wha’ngarei, are the guests of Mrs J. Reynolds, Renall Street, Masterton. The real name of the Chinese actress, Anna May Wong, is Wong Lui Tsong, which means “Frosted Yellow Willow.” Nurse Berry is at present in the ■Masterton Hospital with a poisoned arm, this having been sustained, it is believed, through handling convolvulus, which is a pest in many gardens. Miss Mabel Love, who last appeared on the stage in 1912, is going to appear again soon. She will play the heroine’s mother in Nigel Belchin’s new play, “Profit and Loss,” at the Embassy Theatre, London. She is 63. Miss Patricia Thomas, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs G. L. Thomas, Lansdowne, has accepted the position of dental nurse with the Wellington Hospital Board. She will leave to take up her new duties at the week-end. Miss Thomas was a valued member of the. British Musical Society’s orchestra, the Wairarapa College Old Girls’ Association, a lieutenant in the “Weraite” Girl Guides, and was AssistantCubmaster of the St Matthew’s Cub Pack.
