WRIGHT STEPHENSON & CO., LTD. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:—A good yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs came forward at our Carterton sale yesterday and was offered to a large attendance. Sheep sold on a par - with late rates and the enquiry for smaller pigs was good, porkers meeting an easier market. Cows and heifers on drop were keenly sought after while fat and forward cows sold on a par with last week. We report practically a total clearance under the hammer at the following prices;— Sheep: 5-yr. ewes r.w. S.D., to 18s 6d; s.m. ewes, 12s 6d to 14s Id; wr. lambs, 10s to 13s 4d; small ewe lambs, to 14s 7d; fat b.f. lambs, to 25s 6d; fat ewes, 17s 6d, 19s 6d to 225; forward ewes, 15s to 15s 9d; store ewes, 7s 6d to 9s. Cattle: Cows on drop, £8 10s to £9 2s 6d; cows just calved, to £9 10s; heifers on drop, to £8 10s; heifers just calved, to £5; heifers, r.w.b., to £4 15s; E. Jersey heifers, to £3 7s; fat cows, £5, £5 16s to £6 14s; forward cows, £3 15s, £4 to £4 10s; store cows, £2, £2 5s to £2 10s; cows and calves, to £4 4s; P.A. heifer calves, to £3 9s; bulls, to £5 10s. Pigs: Weaners (good), 9s 6d to 10s 6d, (medium), 6s 6d to 7s 6d; (small), 4s 6d to ss; slips, 13s to 15s; store pigs, 16s 6d to 19s 6d; light porkers, 25s to 28s 6d; porkers, 32s 6d to 36s 6d; baconers, £2 5s to £2 9s.
