ENGLAND v. AUSTRALIA. MATCH ON WIGHTMAN CUP LINES. (Recd This Day, 9.25 a.m.) LONDON, June 3. The Australian women tennis players played the English women’s team at Manchester, on Wightman Cup lines. Miss M. E. Lumb (England) defeated Miss T. Coyne (Australia), 6/4, 4/6, 6/3; Miss King (England) defeated Miss D. Stevenson (Australia), 6/1, 6/3; Miss K. Stammers (England) had a walkover from Miss N. Wynne (Australia) who is suffering from influenza; Misses F. James and M. E. Lumb (England) defeated Mrs Hopman and Miss D. Stevenson (Australia), 6/3, 6/2.
