DAMAGES CLAIMED
SEIZURE OF JAPANESE VESSELS. WRITS LODGED AGAINST COMMONWEALTH. (Recd This Day, 11.25 a.m.) DARWIN, This Day. Writs claiming £lO.OOO damages from the Commonwealth Government for the wrongful detention of two Japanese vessels have been lodged by counsel for Japanese interests. The claims arise out of the arrest and subsequent release of the sampan Seicho Maru and a mother ship, the New Guinea Marti, by the patrol boat Larrakia, in June last.
