MAGISTRATE’S COURT
FORTNIGHTLY MASTERTON SITTING POLICE AND CIVIL BUSINESS Mr H. P Lawry, S.M.. presided at the fortnightly sitting of the Masterton Magistrates’ Court this morning. For operating a heavy motor vehiclcon a State highway at a speed exceeding 25 miles an hour. Evan Critchley Brenkley was convicted and fined £2. and 10s costs. William C. Froud was convicted and fined 10s and 10s costs for parking a motor van so close to an intersection that it was likely tn obstruct traffic. For parking a motor vehicle on the opposite side of another stopped vehicle. W. lan Corbett was convicted and fined 10s and 10s costs. Mrs R. N. Miles, being the owner of two houses in Perry Street, was charged with failing to comply with orders from the Borough Sanitary Inspector to carry out repairs to both houses. Defendant was convicted, and fined £1 and 10s costs on each charge and solicitor’s fee £1 Is. In a defended action, Hamuera Pott: ngaro was convicted and fined ss. 12; costs for keeping an unregistered dog. CIVIL CASES Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following undefended civil claims: G. and D. Jones v H. S. Stubbs, claim £33 6s, costs £1 10s. solicitor's fee, £2 Ils 6d; W. G. Perry v A. J. Scott, claim £8 17s, costs 15s. sol:citor’s fee,_ 15s 6d; Martha Webber v Mary Stimpson. £26 18s and possession within one week. costs’£l 11s and solicitor’s fee £2 11s 6d. On a judgment sunnninons, W. M. Thomas was ordered to pay the Standard Trading Co. the sum of £l2 Ils 3d forthwith, in default one month’s imprisonment. Order to be suspended as long as 2s 6d a week was paid.
