CORONATION ROBES

EXCLUSION OF MASTERTON FROM TOUR.

"It does seem to me that it is a great pity we could not have the Coronation robes -on view in Masterton,” said Councillor W. Kemp at a meeting of the Masterton Borough Council last night, when urging the claims of Masterton to be included in the itinerary.

The Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, said he had done everything he could to have the robes' sent to Masterton. The Railways Department had agreed to run an excursion train from the Wairarapa to Wellington on Friday to allow residents of the district to view the robes.

“I must say,” added Mr Jordan, “that I was rather disappointed that there is one big school in the community which thinks it would be a waste of time in going to see them.”
