WEDDING
BROOKS—PETERSEN. A very pretty ’autumn wedding was solemnised in the Masterton Methodist Church last night, the contracting parties being Phyliss Claire, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Petersen of Essex St, Masterton, and Louis, younger son of Mr and Mrs F. J. Brooks, of Main Street, Greytown. The officiating minister was the Rev F. G. Parker and the organist Miss A. Jones.
The church, which was beautifully decorated in autumn shades by friends of the bride, made an impressive sight. The tall graceful bride, who entered the church with her father, was attired in a most becoming gown of magnolia shimmer satin, which was cut on classical lines and sweeping to a long circular train finished with a frilling of tulle. The gown was completed by tiny satin buttons falling from neck to hem and a spray of orange blossoms was worn at the neck. The vellum-tinted veil, which was lent by a friend, was caught to the head with a circlet of orange blossoms and fell in soft folds to form a long train. She carried an exquisite sheaf of lily of philipinense and orchids with maiden hair fern. The bridesmaids, Misses Avice Petersen (sister of the bride) and Reenie Jones, were gowned in frocks of geranium red shimmer satin and gold shimmer satin, respectively. The dresses were cut alike in sheaf fitting lines and they wore circlets of velvet flowers on their hair. They carried pretty sheafs of orchids, carnations and roses.
The bridegroom was; attended by Mr Jack Wenden as best man, and Mr Max Maddison as groomsman, while the ushers were Messrs Ashley Andrew and'Horace Petersen.
Following the ceremony the guests were received in the Municipal Social Hall by the bride’s mother and father. Mrs Petersen wore a gown of violet matalasse which was trimmed at the neckline with folds of green and cerise chiffon velvet, and she wore a toque of violet velour and a .matching veil. A posy completed the ensemble. Mr and Mrs F. J. Brooks assisted the bride’s, parents, Mrs Brooks wearing a robe of deep blue chiffon velvet. During the reception songs by Miss Edith Ralph and Mr Harry Hall and violin solos by Mr Stuart Petersen were much appreciated. A social and dance was later held in the social hall, Messrs W. R. Nicol and B. Iveson acting as M.C’s. Items were given by Miss E. Ralph (songs) and Mr Stuart Petersen (violin). The bride travelled in a brown costume with accessories to match. The future home of Mr and Mrs Brooks will be in Palmerston North.
