BUSINESS AT SAINT JOHN. SAINT JOHN, Canada. The Port of Saint John on the Canadian Atlantic sea coast is doing a greatly increased business in grain handling this season, with loadings in mid-March more than 2,000,000 bushels over those of the entire season of 1936-37. The increase was more than 4,000,000 bushels over the corresponding period of last season. The totals to date are 10,456,738 bushels this season and 6,452,009 last season. Cattle shipments wtre also heavy. It is estimated they will amount to 11,000 head before the close of the season. Plans are now underway for increased space for cattle in ships leaving Canadian ports and for more ships to be used for the transportation of cattle along with other cargo.
