LICENCES & PLATES
MOTORISTS’ LAST-MINUTE RUSH.
The inevitable last-minute rush has set in for the coming year’s drivers’ licences. Up to Friday evening only about 750 licences had been issued by the Masterton Borough Council, leaving something like 1250 to be dealt with in the last two days of the month. This morning, the borough office was almost besieged with applicants for licences and the rush is not likely to subside for some days at least.
A. slightly better position is reported by the Masterton County Council, where 639 licences have been issued out of a total of 1250. Several members of the Masterton Post Office staff are likewise working at capacity with the issue of the new number plates, which require to be attached to all motor vehicles on Wednesday.
