SOLWAY OLD GIRLS

ENJOYABLE ANNUAL DANCE. A most enjoyable evening was spent in the Savage Club rooms on Thursday last, the occasion being the annual dance of the Solway College Old Girls’ Association. A feature of the evening was the artistic and unusual floral decorations. A decorated stairway led up to a bank of massed hydrangeas and greenery where the guests were welcomed by the president (Mrs E. Shaw), wearing gold satin with sequin trimming and apricot posy, and the joint secretaries, Misses Ily Scott (in pink and silver embossed angelskin with blue spray and sash), and Annie Tregurtha (in lavender and silver lacquered satin), assisted by Misses J. Wrigley (in blue georgette with pink spray) and M. McClymont (in pink tinsel thread crepe). The interior of the hall was very effectively decorated with large bowls of massed hydrangeas and autumn tinted chrysanthemums and multicoloured balloons. In the supper room bowls of pink and white flowers also made an attractive setting. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss I. Scott and Mr A. Southey and the Lucky Spot was won by Miss J. Douglas and Mr F. Milne. During the course of the evening balloons and favours were distributed. Extras were played by Mrs I. McGregor and Mr B. Massey. At the conclusion of the evening Mr I. Shaw, on behalf the guests, called for three cheers for the Old Girls. The singing of Auld Lang Syne and God Save the King brought a happy gathering to a close. Among those present were Mrs T. A. Cunningham, autumn-tinted floral tunic; Misses J. Douglas, black velvet with gold accessories; A. Eton, floral georgette with blue posy; B. Percy, blue net over taffeta; J.
