COURSING

The N.Z. St Leger Stakes, which is one of the four important classic events of the coursing world, has this year been allotted to the Wairarapa Coursing Club by the National Coursing Association. Members of the local club feel proud of the fact that out of some twenty coursing clubs operating in New Zealand, they have been for the past three seasons entrusted with the” running of a classic event and no effort is being spared this year to make the St Leger an outstanding success. The meeting will be supplemented by a 16-dog maiden stake, for which Mr Jas. Watson has donated a handsome rose bowl to be competed for a challenge trophy.
