OBITUARY
MRS E. G. HEPWORTH.
The death occurred today at the residence of her daughter, Mrs Ernest Sortain-Smith, Renall Street, Masterton, at the age of 66 years, of Mrs Elizabeth Grey Hepworth. The late Mrs Hepworth was the widow of the late Major W. J. Hepworth, of the Royal Engineers, Mafeking, South Africa, and who was provost-marshal during the siege of Mafeking, being attached to Lord Baden Powell’s headquarters staff. She was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs D’Urban Dyason, of Surrey, England, and a grand-daughter of the late Peter and Sarah Ramsay Lennox, of Kirkcudbrightshire. Scotland. Mrs Hepworth leaves three daughters and two sons —Mrs Ernest SortainSmith, Renall Street, Masterton; Sister Patricia Hepworth, Wellington; Mrs John Ford Paterson, Melbourne, Australia, and Messrs Warren Grey Hepworth, Sussex, England, and Cecil John Hepworth, Shepparton, Australia. One son, George Jelf Hepworth, of his Majesty’s Household Cavalry, the First Life Guards, was killed in action at Messines during the Great War. The funeral will be a private one.
