EVEREST CLIMB

PREPARATIONS OF BRITISH PARTY ESTABLISHMENT OF ADVANCED BASE LONDON, May 25. A “Times" copyright letter from Mr Tilman states that Camp 3. which stands 21,000 feet under the North Col, has been fully provisioned. It will be used as an advanced base of operations for the actual climbing. When the camp first was occupied at the end of April, the weather was temptingly fine and sunny, but after living at this height for a few days, the party found the wind too violent and temperatures too low to make so early an attempt on the summit. The party spent a few days in Charta Valley, where they recovered from sore throats and coughs.
