WINTER SPORTS CLUB
SUCCESSFUL TEAMS MATCH. The Winter Sports Club held a very successful teams match last Saturday night, Miss R. Winter’s team winning by the narrow margin of one game from Miss Quinn’s team. . Tomorrow night the club intends running a series of ladder matches to determine the ranking of the various players. As the inter-club competition will soon be starting, it is hoped that all members will attend so as to secure their places in the various teams. Commenting on the form of players, a contributor states: “It is pleasing to note that many players have changed to the tennis style. The most noticeable is W. Pye, whose easy action is making him a formidable opponent. J. Nicholls is back again in the front rank with J. Haywood and J. Curtin providing solid opposition. F. Bodie, with a little more confidence, will be a top rank player. Miss R. Winter still plays a solid bat, and M. Wing and Miss Quinn with more experience will be assets to the club. Miss H. Winter, Miss N. Brown and Miss Hurley after a season’s absence from the game have shown that they have not lost any of their talent.
