“Husbands are occasionally lost at bargain sales," says a writer. We refuse to believe, though, that unless they are claimed within -three days they are sold to defray expenses. The casualness or forgetfulness of some people is illustrated by an experience related by a Christchurch motorist. He was shopping in the heart of the city one night recently when he was attracted by the whining of a pet dog in a closed car outside the shop. The windows were steamed on the inside, and thinking that the dog might be lacking fresh air. he tried to push a window down, but failed. Finally he managed to raise the windscreen slightly and prop it open. The shopkeeper said the owner of the car, after asking whether it was an unlimited parking area, locked the door and went away. The car and the dog remained out all night and were still there when the shop was opened next morning.
