NOT WANTED
PROPOSED RABBIT BOARD. OPPOSED BY WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY. (“Times-Age” Special). T am emphatically against the proposal,” remarked the chairman, Mr D. McGregor, when referring at today’s meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council, to a proposal to establish a rabbit board in the Wairarapa. “I do not see',” he added, “why this county should be included in any rabbit board area. We are getting on quite well with the Government inspectors controlling the rabbits. The bulk of our land is dairying country and I do not see why those farmers should be asked to pay rabbit board rates.” Councillor C. A. Cameron: “I am very much against it. I can deal with my own rabbits.” A councillor: “We don’t want a rabbit board.” (“Hear, hear.”) A resolution stating that the council was definitely opposed to the establishment of a rabbit board was carried unanimously.
