It is revealed that the Thorpe Hall was afloat for half an hour after being bombed, enabling the crew to put •off in a boat. The captain, mate, wireless operator and chief steward were still aboard when she sank and were picked up after being for hours in the water. The only casualties were five slightly wounded. The insurgents have intensified their bombing of coastal cities. Alicane suffered the worst raid of the ..war, 240 being killed and a thousand injured. Four hundred bombs were dropped at Sagunta, where there were numerous casualties.
