Mr and Mrs John Monk, of Gisborne, yesterday celebrated the 65th anniversary of their wedding. Mrs W. Welch, of Lansdowne, has returned home after having visited Wellington and Waikato. The death of Mr W. G. Nightingale, for the last fifty years sporting contributor to the “Napier Daily Telegraph” and other papers, is reported in a Press Association message from Napier. ,
The death occurred yesterday of Mr J. D. Familton, of the firm of J. D. Familton and Sons, Oamaru, a Press Association message states. Mr Familton, who was 83 years of age, was known in business circles throughout the Dominion.
Mr L. W. Hogben, manager of the Commercial Bank at Wanganui for the past six years, has received notice of his transfer to Adelaide as chief accountant. Mr Hogben is chairman of the Technical College Board of Managers and captain of the Wanganui Golf Club.
