GOLF NOTES. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual inter-club match between Te Wharau and the Wharemouku Private Club was played on the local links over the weekend, the visitors bringing out a strong team from town. The local team proved too superior and finally won by 6 games. In the.men’s four-ball Wharemouku were 2 up, and in the ladies’ four-ball the visitors were 2 down. In the afternoon the local ladies improved their lead in the singles by 5 games, and the men’s singles were also in favour of the home team by 1 game. The following are the results, the Wharemouku players being mentioned first in each case: — Men’s four-ball: L. Connolly and W. H. Saunders beat Nitz and H. Paku; J. Gordon and H. E. Pither beat W. Kummer and M. Paku; A. Keir and S. Charlson beat N. Foreman and S. Gray; J. Towns and A. Charlson lost to C. Schofield and J. Bannister; E. Handyside and F. Whyte beat F. C. H. Cotter and H. Winter; V. McKeague and J. Kerslake beat F. McKinstry and R. Vennell; H. McGovern and R. Garland lost to A. McGregor and P. Kummer; T. McGovern and J. Whyte lost to R. McKinstry and F. Cotter jnr. The first round of the junior competition was concluded on Thursday afternoon. Elfle Bannister handed in the best card for the girls, and Frank Cotter did the round best among the boys. Both these players won the trophies presented by the president for best score in the first round. The final round will be played during next term holidays when the best net score over the two rounds will decide 'the holder of the cup for one year. The prizes for the best score for each girl and boy in the final round have been donated by Mr and Mrs B. F. Schofield.

On Thursday afternoon a hidden number competition was held, the winner being Miss P. Schofield. Mrs Foreman withstood a challenge from Miss Bannister for the Kummerstein Cup. winning 3 and 2, and A. McGregor defeated M. Paku in a Nimmo Cup match.
