FORESTERS’ LODGE
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING AN INTERESTING DEBATE The fortnightly meeting of the Foresters Lodge was held in the Foresters Hall, Masterton, last night, when there was a fair attendance of members, presided over by C. R. Bro R. L. Crocker. The sick visitors reported that the members on the sick list were progressing as well as could be expected. The secretary reported that three brothers had. declared on the sick fund and one declared off. The secretary reported the death of a very old and esteemed member of the lodge, in the person of the late Brother B. Gough.. The members stood in silence out of respect to the memory of the late brother, the lodge going into mourning. The secretary was instructs ed to forward a letter of sympathy to the relatives of the late brother. Bro J. Barr reported on the Dispensary Board meeting. Bro Leigh reported on the Saturday night card tournament and the indoor bowls. Sick pay and accounts amounting to £l5 11s were passed for payment. At the close of the lodge business a debate took place between a team from the W.E.A. and a team of lodge members, the subject being, “Is Japan justified in attacking China,” the lodge team taking the negative. The verdict went to the affirmative. All members should attend the next meeting which will be held on June 6, when the nomination of officers and trustees will take place.
