RABBIT BOARD
PROPOSAL NOT FAVOURED.
VIEWS OF MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.
Further opposition to the proposed rabbit board in the Wairarapa was voiced at a meeting of the Mauriceville County Council om Saturday.
A letter was received from Mr R. H. Williams, on behalf of various settlers, requesting the opinion of the council as to the desirability of calling a meeting of settlers and county delegates to discuss the formation of a rabbit board. Councillor D. Bennett considered that the formation was not at all necessary and that with proper concerted action by individual farmers the rabbit pest could be effectively dealt with at much less cost than would be incurred by a rabbit board. All the councillors concurred in this opinion, and considered that the inspectors should be urged to rigidly enforce the regulations for the destruction of rabbits.
