MEN WITHOUT JOBS

INVASION OF VANCOUVER. POST OFFICE OCCUPIED AS DORMITORY. VANCOUVER. May 21. Resisting Dominion and provincial Government orders that they are not eligible for relief aid unless they return to their homes in other parts of Canada, 1500 single men without jobs invaded the post office, the art gallery, and one of the leading hotels. They slept on the floors and had food brought to them by sympathisers. The men in the post office refused to leave after a Government warning against interference with the mails. Workers were not molested. Ejection by the police was stayed by owners, who feared heavy consequent property damage.
