TOMORROW’S BALL

HAWKE’S BAY FLOOD RELIEF WAIRARAPA’S BIG EFFORT. GREAT INTEREST BEING SHOWN. There is every prospect that the appeal in the Wairarapa for the relief of distress in Hawke’s Bay, following on the recent disastrous floods there, will be outstandingly successful. Throughout the district the appeal has ;net with a ready response. As an example in point, the Kahautara Social Committee donated the proceeds of its usual fortnightly dance, held on Saturday, amounting to about £l2 to the Featherston fund. This gesture is especially appreciated and the ladies and others responsible are to be congratulated on the result of their efforts to help the fund. Interest, throughout the district now centres in the monster ball to be held in the Masterton Municipal Hall tomorrow night. Arrangements have been made for the Masonic Hall to accommodate any overflow attendance of dancers. All that is needed to make the ball an outstanding success from a financial point of view is a bumper attendance as the halls, musiQ and supper are all being provided free, while members of the ladies’ committee will be doing the kitchen work themselves at supper time. The Amateur Theatrical Society decided on Thursday last to hold its practice tonight instead of tomorrow night, so as to allow members an opportunity of attending the ball. MAYOR’S FUND. ADDITIONAL DONATIONS. The Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, acknowledges receipt of the following additional donations to the Hawke's Bay relief fund: —

Messrs C. E. Daniell Ltd., donation of timber. Donations, which may be left with the Mayor, Mr Jordan or at the "Times-Age” Office, will be acknowledged in the Press.
